Pony of the Month: Lewis
Lewis is a sweet tempered, young colt from Herd H67 Brendon Common. He arrived at the Exmoor Pony Centre in December 2011. When his herd was unable to find a purchaser for him, The Moorland Mousie Trust was able to help.

Lewis waited his turn for training in the fields over the winter. Happily eating us out of house and home! He was always on the edge of the group and once he came into the centre it was apparent why. He is a little older than the other youngsters who arrive at only 6 or 7 months old, Lewis however is probably a few months older and was quite dominant over the younger weanlings.
Lewis came into the centre for handling and training, he had only ever experienced people when he was separated from his mother, inspected and branded. He was a very willing pupil and although he spent some time looking at all of us humans as if we were aliens!!! He soon started to wear a headcollar and to lead. He was named by us, keeping within the theme: tv/film/book detectives. His friends include Rebus, Kojak, Magnum, Taggart and of course Miss Marple!
We are in no doubt that Lewis will makie a wonderful family pony, he catches on the yard and is the first to come down in the morning, waiting for attention and of course some grub!
Lewis shall be neutered as soon as possible and he will then go on to a foster home. Luckily Lewis has found somebody who would like to take him home, unfortunatly this is not the case with many of his friends. If you have the space, time and patience to take on a youngster, temporarily or permanently please get in touch with Linzi at ponyofficer@moorandmousietrust.org.uk
